The EU elections are to be held between the 23-26 May 2019 giving all adult EU citizens the opportunity to select who will represent them in the European Parliament. The European elections will have a direct impact on your life, and potentially on Homeopathy! They will decide how Europe will act in the coming years to address your concerns about jobs, business, security, migration and climate change, and of course Complementary and Alternative Medicine including Homeopathy.

EUROCAM is a foundation uniting European organisations representing Complementary and Alternative Medicine patients and trained CAM health professionals, including medical doctors, veterinarians and other practitioners, and EFHPA is an active member.
We join EUROCAM in calling on the EU political leaders to explore the ways in which CAM can contribute to sustainable healthcare systems including its role in health maintenance, health education, self-responsibility for health, motivation for healthy lifestyle change and less invasive and more cost-effective treatment of illness, and support Member States in promoting the inclusion of CAM in all relevant EU public health policies and programmes.

Itβs not only important that you vote, but also your family, friends, neighbours and colleagues. EU regulations say that some form of proportional representation should be used when electing MEPs. This system ensures that if a party gets 20% of the votes, it will also win roughly 20% of the contested seats, so both larger and smaller political parties have the chance to send representatives to the European Parliament. This means that each vote counts, potentially more than in some general elections (depending on the country).
EFHPA would like to urge you to check the manifesto of the party you are considering voting for and finding out exactly what their policy is towards all CAM practices, but in particular to homeopathy. Better still, contact them to ask where they stand as this will help raise awareness on the fact that this is a major current issue in Europe.
